Sunburst Cowl Kit
As a Scotland-based dyer and stockist of the brilliant Journal of Scottish Yarns, I’m thrilled to have a design in its issue 7, inspired by the geology of Scotland. The Sunburst Cowl took inspiration from the sight of luminous yellow lichens on the iconic banded gneiss of northwest Scotland.
Included in the kit:
A double-layered cowl knit in the round in fingering-weight Earth (spun by the clever folk at John Arbon and dyed by me), it’s perfect for the windy and often wild weather of this part of the world and beyond.
This kit comes in two colourways and includes enough Earth to make both the longer and shorter cowl:
2 x Woollenflower Earth (100% wool, 400m/ 100gm), mid grey and cool gold (dyed with weld) OR dyed with pale pink and blue (dyed with cochineal and indigo)
1 x Woollenflower Earth (100% wool, 100m/ 25gm), dark grey OR deep blue (dyed with indigo)
The kit does not include a copy of the pattern- you can purchase the journal from me or direct from the producer.
Please note that that, due to the nature of natural dyes, kits may differ slightly in shade.
